I am pleased to have connected in February 2009 with Lisa Saylor of Catawba Co., NC who is a descendant of Cunrod Winebarger.   Cunrod Winebarger was either the father or the adoptive father of our John (Festler)Winebarger.  I'm looking forward to getting to know Lisa and hoping for her family's assistance with cousin Charles Smith Winebarger's DNA project now that I have placed them in contact.

Charles Smith Winebarger seeks male descendants of John (Festler) Winebarger and Cunrod Winebarger (son of George Winebarger) for DNA testing.  He wishes for them to join him in having their Y-DNA (father’s line) tested to compare our most recent common ancestors. This test should clear up the question of whether our John Winebarger (born about 1789) was a natural son of Cunrad Winebarger or if he was John Festler who was adopted by the Winebarger’s when his parents died aboard ship coming to America from Germany.  Please play an integral role in this genetic research by contacting  Charles at CWinebar99@aol.com

We continue our prayers for Ruth Layng (widow of Bob Layng & daughter-in-law of James & Jennie Winebarger Layng) who underwent cancer treatments in 2008 and is doing very well in 2009.  She has undertaken the task of writing a fiction book.

In 2008, we mourned the passing of cousin Eva Miller Bear (daughter of Cicero & Hattie Winebarger Miller; granddaughter of Dalton & Lula Miller Winebarger) who died  in Eugene, OR on Oct. 5 of cancer at age 94.
